School Day
1. The school will open to receive pupils at 9.00 a.m.
2. Doors will open at 9.00 a.m. and classes will start at 9.10 am.
3. Classes for Junior & Senior Infants end at 1.40 p.m. Please ensure you collect your child promptly at 1.40 p.m. It is very upsetting for a young child to be left waiting. We tell the children that if they are not collected that they should return to their classroom. If you are unavoidably delayed at any time please inform the school so that your child can be minded.
4. For the first two weeks in September the junior infants will finish at 12.00, and thereafter at 1.40 p.m. Initially the teachers will escort the children down the avenue to the lollipop lady and then after a few weeks to the end of the staff car park. Please feel free at any stage to collect your child from the classroom.
5. All other classes end at 2.40 p.m.
6. Pupils must walk from the main road to the school building. In the interest of safety parents are asked not to drive cars onto the Convent avenue from the main road. Only staff cars and special needs transport are allowed up the avenue.
7. We have two breaks during the day: 10.50 a.m. – 11.00 (little lunch – some peeled fruit or sandwich)
12.30 p.m. – 1.00 p.m. (big lunch– the children eat their lunch inside for ten minutes before going out to play)
8. If your child is sick in school we will contact you by phone. In the event of your child falling in school, the staff will attend to it and will send home a note for you to check that all is well. If it is more serious you will be contacted by phone. It is very important that we have up to date contact details for you at all times.
