Actually we used a butternut squash. We made a sweet shortcrust dough with eggs, butter and flour. The next day we prepared the squash and mixed it with sugar, salt, milk, eggs, butter, cinnamon and nutmeg. we rolled out the pastry, blind baked it and poured in the squash mixture. It took a long time to cook and we left it in the fridge overnight. The next day (Thanksgiving Day), we ate it with rum (flavoured) ice-cream. Happy Thanksgiving y'all!
Curries from across the globe. The West Indian lamb was a slow cook, we started on Tuesday morning and only ate it Wednesday lunch time. Perfect with spicy Bombay Potatoes.
There's nothing more educational than a scientific investigation into the properties of the new Ruby chocolate!
We had some filo pastry left over from samosas so there was only one thing to do, well two actually! Mincemeat Christmas crackers with home made ice-cream!
Today we made vegetable samosas. First we made a vegetable curry and then we folded up filo pastry stuffed with the curry. Most of them came out triangular. Karolina thought they were a bit spicy and Sean's cheeks went red. As it's Friendship Week we shared some with Room 12, but ONLY because it's Friendship Week, this is NOT going to be a regular occurrence!
To celebrate Bonfire night we decided to use it as a theme for cooking, so first off, onion ash and smoked lamb. The rest we'll do tomorrow.
